The J. Paul Getty Trust (“Getty”) is seeking a person with exceptional strategic, operational, and interpersonal skills to join the team as Head of Institutional Procurement. The Head of Institutional Procurement reports to the Controller and is responsible for the day-to-day management and strategic operations of Procurement & Contract Services and oversees the entire procurement function in a customer-focused, strategic, and sustainable manner.

The Head of Institutional Procurement plans, directs and manages the central procurement activities of Getty, including its four programs - Museum, Conservation Institute, Research Institute, and Foundation – and operational functions, such as facilities, technology, human resources, etc. The Procurement area supports a significant portion of the $350+ million annual budget. Reporting to the Controller, the Head of Institutional Procurement manages a team of approximately 15 who oversee procurement services, contracts, and accounting support, including P-card administration.

The Head of Institutional Procurement needs to be a strategic thinker; able to provide clear direction; customer-centric; innovative; focused on continuous improvement; committed to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion in the workplace and supporting those efforts across Getty; excellent communicator; and will demonstrate integrity, openness, sound judgment, and a commitment to transparency.
A Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or related field from an accredited college or university plus 5 -10 years of progressively more responsible work experience managing procurement functions and team, on behalf of an organization is required, Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM), Certified Procurement Professional (CPP) or similar designation preferred.
