Assistant Conservator, Works on Paper

The Assistant Conservator, Works on Paper will work to prolong the physical and aesthetic life of works of art through documentation, preventive care, conservation treatment, research, and education. He/She/They will promote and advocate the preservation of works in the collection or in the temporary custody of the Gallery. He/She/They will also provide advice and expertise concerning the aesthetic, conceptual and physical characteristics of works of art.
Requirements
This role is best suited for someone who has:
- Master’s degree from a recognized conservation training program and a number of years directly related experience with works on paper and photography, or equivalent training and experience.
- Comprehensive knowledge of conservation principles, practices, materials and techniques.
- Knowledge of the materials and techniques, and the aesthetic and historical significance of works of art.
- Experience with photography conservation is an asset.
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations and practices.
- Knowledge of the “Code of Ethics and Guidance for Practice” of the Canadian Association for Conservation of Cultural Property (CAC) and of the Canadian Association of Professional Conservators (CAPC).
- Ability to perform delicate operations affecting the condition and appearance of works of art with precision.
- Interpersonal and communication skills to interface with public, lenders, staff.

Salary range for this position: $60,660 - $75,803 per annum
